The best place to Move to In Spain

21 years here this year and i get asked this a lot.

” where is the best place to move to in Spain?

There are really 3 things you need to think about when choosing a place to live in Spain.

Ok first off i have travelled a lot all over Spain and seen some lovely places and lived in several different areas myself.

What i love may not be right for you so how do you choose what’s right for you and get it right the first time. Get it wrong and it costs a lot to move here as moving expenses are way higher and the taxes more than in the uk.

Below i will show you what real life is like in Spain and what you need to look out for .

Below a fiesta my Spanish wife and i went to with our friends and most of the village.

Here goes.

Research research and more research.

Then go have a look and see what you dont like.

David loves his Free tapas in Spain

Almeria they are free with a beer or wine.

There is a short cut though.

Look for and find people who are living the sort of life you want to live. Join their groups follow them message them and find out what they did and see how they are living.

If you like the country side then follow people who are living in that area. Beach person? well reach out to people living near the beach in an area you like the look of and ask them all about it. costs papers what work they did and do how are they living here now.

Find out what the daily costs are.

Almost all the people i know who have moved to Spain love it here and are more than happy to talk about their life here.

One of my local beaches just 10 mins from my house here in Almeria. Is Almeria right for you?

Think about these 3 things

1 what will you be doing in Spain. like are you retired and dont need to work or will you need to find a job here and what are the best areas for work in your field.

2 How good is your Spanish. can you speak Spanish and are you learning or is that not important to you as you will be living in a British populated area so les important. Some areas of Spain have many British speakers but is that really what you want.

3 Health

You may be fit and healthy now but we all get old and when you do is the area you moved to ok for getting medical help and treatment or will you have to drive a long way. Maybe you wont be able to drive then or want to. Can you tell the doctors whats wrong with you and understand what they recommend. In Brit populated areas this may be easier. Spain can be very hot in the south in summer months going well over 100 for several weeks and in the north or inland there can be snow in winter just like in the uk.

Cities are lovely to visit but are very busy and noisy some times so is that what you really like all the time. Some do.

A quiet life in the country sounds great drinking your wind on your terrace away from people but are you too cut off when you need services and help.

It all comes back to doing loads of research and knowing what is available in that area you like and whats life really like there.

The only way to know is to go there and try it for a few weeks or months as i always recommend. Following others online that are in an area you like is a great way to see there photos and videos of life in that area and connect with them to ask what it costs. is there work there and what will a home cost there and daily expenses.

This is the main reason why i set up my groups and sites to provide this information and help others share their ways of life here in Spain.

You can learn and save a lot by doing or Not doing what others have done.
